Here I am art journalling but using quips from a calendar which I cut up.
This is a comic style, but with no story line. Just amusing quips from Retro Mum's.
The background I have used some new ink pencils I recently purchased (Inktense by Derwent). You pencil on your colour and then add water and it changes into ink consistency, I love using them.

Jules Verne 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Antarctic Ice Shelf Expedition
There are still a few more scenes I'm trickling in as I finish the 'altering' of them, and this one is of the Antarctic Ice Shelf that the Nautilus submarine encountered.
And the Aurora Australis (Southern Lights) yes our equivalent to the Northern hemisphere's aurora borealis.

Alice In Wonderland - Art Diorama
This is a collaborative project by myself, Erin and Anthony. Anthony has made the props (i.e. the cardboard boxes with the background scenery), Erin has made the cut out illustrations; and me well I've used further cuts outs from an old second hand book, and also added all the embellishments (dried flowers, jewellery items, embroidered items, etc).

These dioramas are art ones, in that things have just been added to create scenes at the designers/artist's (that's me) whim.
First one is Alice pointing to the rabbit going to the hole (but also there are other scenes of the rabbit and Alice still on that diorama so you are forced to develop several images from the one image).

Second one is Alice falling down the rabbit hole and seeing many doors, plus under the table and seeing the bottle with drink me on it.

Vintage and retro imaged art journal pages
I've been art journalling again. This one is kind of a quasi-comic style (without the speech bubbles).
These two: Confrontation in the Bedroom and The Waiting Room.
This one is a retro one: Chef, Hostess, Party Planner Extraordinaire: is there anything I can't do?

Art Journal Comic
Okay here is a new genre I am about to intrepidly enter, that of art journalling but with a twist, say making them a bit more like a comic. I thought I might try some social commentary, but with this first one I have enlisted the help of author Violette.

Art Quilt
This is my first attempt at art quilting, and as I'm not a purist I have glued the pieces instead of sewing them on. It looks like I may need to invest in a sewing machine, one of those latest ones that allow you to do amazing embroidery styles.
Last week I showed you my digital collage where I had manipulated photos and added various layers (background and vector based elements) using Photoshop.
So here is one quilt, the other one to follow. The digital collage image was colour printed onto cotton twill. The quilt is made up of scraps of red fabric, lace, embroidered embellishments, ribbon and of course a little bit of bling (I couldn't help myself).

Dress-ups and play modelling
Here are two more renditions of digital collage.
I am posting these as part of a series, as the next post will be art quilts made from these collages.
One of my daughter's loves dressing up and playing cat walk model. The photo below has her, in the far left, very faint, dressed in an Egyptian attire.
I plan to print these onto silk or cotton and then use lots of red velvets, black lace and other fabrics to create an art quilt. I haven't tried art quilting yet, but thought I'd give it a go.
