Gypsy Queen
I have combined two altered art pieces in this diorama.
The diorama also holds 4 bracelets that are still worn, and it also has a Gypsy Queen notebook with a story inside of it.

Victorian Beach Summer
This is one of my more ambitious projects, and as you can see it is life sized (that's me standing by it).
It has taken a number of years to do, only because I ran out of time and I was making it when I had my Altered Art Alchemist shop in Mt Eden, so it was good to do between customers. But since closing the store down I never really had time to work on it until these holidays (yeah).
And here are the close up images that I am looking at.
This is one of the side panels, and the other is the back of the other side.

Wassail Shadow Box
If after Christmas you are left with some really pretty Christmas cards and you do not want to through them away, then use them with Christmas scrapbooking papers and make a new Christmas decoration for next year. I have also used an empty Christmas cracker box and put to good use the little bows that wrap around each cracker. The paper I have used is Basic Grey's Wassail Christmas range of papers, suitably titled 'wassail'. Wassail means to "go a carolling" and is a toast for merry Christmas and a happy new year. So I have used Victoriana images out of the book Memories of a Lifetime Christmas which includes a CD, mixed with Christmas cards and other paper decorations, such as mesh, cellophane, trim, and also I added another Christmas decoration, such as the angel dangling from the bottom, as this tended to get lost on the Christmas Tree.

The Cross
"We live by faith and not by sight"

I haven't blogged for ages, it is more to do with the assignments I have been working on (non-art projects) and having to cope with a massive flooding in my office (the bursting of an air con pipe) rather than having no material to upload. Anyway, life is almost back to normal.
This cross I made awhile ago and I was inspired by the work of Michal Negrin one of my favourite artists (she is listed under my favourite artists). I have used a collection of Victoriana stickers that have been scuffed (distressed) and then applied on to some beautiful paper by Walter Knabe (another favourite artist). On top of this I have added Dimensional Magic, a product that looks like ready made resin. It coats it beautifully with lots of lustre and shine.

Gypsy Wagon
It's a gypsy's boudoir.
This is a cardboard model which was collaged with Basic Grey Papers.

I have always had a fascination with gypsies (Roma); and what inspires me about them is their flamboyance, lush colours and trinkets they adorn themselves with.
A friend of mine gave me a porcelain doll and this was dressed with just scraps of trim, ribbon and material we had on hand.

I had envisaged on entering this piece in the Bohemian Edition of Somerset Gallery magazine, but ended up completing another 2D Bohemian art work which was published in the Winter Gallery Edition 2007.
Here is some of the detail on top, it is a ribbon flower. Also you should be able to see that the paper has been crackled.
