Commedia dell'arte Large Screen Theatre

I have combined various projects within this larger frame of works.
It consists of smaller dioramas of street theatre for Commedia dell'arte, a paper model of the leaning tower of Pisa, as well as various construction stages.

This is the 'ceiling' of the theatre in partial contruction.

One of the scenes to the far left, second major level.

A new toy theatre diorama scene made specifically for this project. More of the ceiling below:

Part assembled scene combining a previous Commedia dell'arte, two floor levels of new street scenes and the leaning tower of Pisa, plus background wall.

The front view on the left hand side of the larger scene. This combines a pop-up card I bought in Las Vegas. I have also used sea glass for more visual effects of the water.

First level with miniature toy theatre on your left. Plus a look at the street scene and ground. These effects I have used pre-printed mulberry paper from an Italian paper company.

Theatre scene
Combined glass cover with new theatre scene which will be used separately on the grand scheme of things.

Another view of a theatre scene not rigidly sticking with uniformity but using some imagination to go out of the 'boxes'.

Gypsy Queen

I have combined two altered art pieces in this diorama.
The diorama also holds 4 bracelets that are still worn, and it also has a Gypsy Queen notebook with a story inside of it.

Water Babies ... in the Stream

As per previous post, this work has been inspired by the book Water Babies by Charles Knightley. I've used colour copies of various illustrations from the book as well as relief die cuts and other paper ephemera in constructing this double diorama. One large diorama consisting of two smaller ones. In the forefront is the surface of the stream and the back diorama is entering into the depths of the stream and the world of what is going on there. In the previous diorama I switched that order by the top diorama being on the surface of the sea and the bottom diorama being indepth in the sea.

Water Babies ... in the Sea

Sometimes story books can be the inspiration for completing many of my projects, and here it is the Water Babies - an old favourite tale of my mother's generation. I have been inspired by reading an old version of this book. I have developed two dioramas ... in fact four dioramas as there are two dioramas within each larger diorama. One of the dioramas is for stream water babies and the other one is for sea water babies. An immensely enjoyable project.

With beautiful fishes made from jewellery and metal charms. These are yet to come on the diorama.
